What is the Department of Veterans’ Affairs Community Nursing Program?

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Community Nursing Program enables eligible veterans to receive personalized nursing services in the comfort and privacy of their own homes. These services address both clinical and personal care needs, as assessed by a healthcare professional.
The program is designed to improve health outcomes and support the independence of veterans by helping them avoid unnecessary hospital admissions or early placement in residential care facilities.
Funded by the Australian Commonwealth Government through the DVA, this program is provided at no cost to eligible members of the veteran community.

What our participants say about us

“Anna’s support has truly been life-changing for me. As someone with hearing impairment and heavily reliant on lipreading, the widespread use of masks in the community has been incredibly challenging. Anna has become my eyes and ears, helping me navigate complex conversations with government organisations over the phone and standing by my side in person as a trusted advocate.

What sets Anna apart is her professionalism combined with genuine compassion. She is patient, kind, and approaches my challenges with a holistic mindset, which has greatly eased my stress and anxiety—especially during the extended isolation periods brought on by COVID restrictions.

Anna is not just a support worker; she is a true asset to AICS and a blessing in my life.”
