The NDIS, or National Disability Insurance Scheme, is an Australian government initiative providing funding for disability care and support. It aims to help eligible individuals access the resources and assistance they need to lead a more independent life and achieve their personal goals.
Below are answers to some common questions about the NDIS and how AICS works with it to provide high-quality support tailored to your needs.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a government program offering funding to support people with disabilities. This funding helps cover the costs of
services and supports designed to improve participants’ quality of life and independence.
Anyone with a disability that meets the eligibility criteria can access funding under the NDIS program.
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) manages the NDIS and ensures participants receive the funding and resources they need.
To access the NDIS, you will need to apply and meet the eligibility requirements. The NDIA will assess your situation and guide you through the process to help you create a personalised NDIS plan.
Funding through the NDIS is determined based on your individual needs and goals, as outlined in your NDIS plan. There are no fixed levels for funding—your planner will work with you to decide the necessary support for your circumstances
The NDIS can fund a wide range of supports, including:
• Personal care and domestic assistance
• Therapies and skill-building activities
• Mobility aids and equipment
• Community participation and access
Your NDIS planner will help identify what supports are relevant to your needs.
At AICS, we provide a range of services tailored to your NDIS plan, including personal care, household tasks, community access, and nursing services. Our goal is to ensure your supports align with your lifestyle and personal goals.
The NDIA works with you to define your needs and set up your NDIS plan. If you require assistance coordinating your care, you may have a support coordinator assigned to help manage your plan.
At AICS, we collaborate closely with you and your support coordinator to ensure all the services in your plan are delivered smoothly and effectively.
“Anna’s support has truly been life-changing for me. As someone with hearing impairment and heavily reliant on lipreading, the widespread use of masks in the community has been incredibly challenging. Anna has become my eyes and ears, helping me navigate complex conversations with government organisations over the phone and standing by my side in person as a trusted advocate.
What sets Anna apart is her professionalism combined with genuine compassion. She is patient, kind, and approaches my challenges with a holistic mindset, which has greatly eased my stress and anxiety—especially during the extended isolation periods brought on by COVID restrictions.
Anna is not just a support worker; she is a true asset to AICS and a blessing in my life.”
At AICS, we take the time to truly understand your goals, your needs, and your unique situation. Our mission is to provide exceptional care that enhances your life, creating meaningful experiences and celebrating positive outcomes every step of the way
